Sacred Ceremonies for the Soul & Spirit.
Sacred Plant Spirit Ceremonies are conducted in line with the Shipibo teachings of Maestro Don Enrique from the Peruvian Amazon, which in itself is guided by the plant spirit themselves, and a strong belief in GOD or Creative Intelligence. The plants spirit medicine have reached out to individuals who are committed to sharing their messages, healing gifts and wisdom. The Maestra’s role is complex and requires great amounts of mental, physical and spiritual strength and experience to hold the energetic space and to direct the flow of the ceremony.
What does a Plant of the Jungle Ceremony involve?
At around 6 pm all participants gather in the center and take their place on individual mattresses. Each person has a blanket, pillow, bucket, toilet tissue and it is suggested you bring a water bottle, warm clothes and small torch, along with any other significant item you may like to hold or meditate with in ceremony, crystals etc. There will be a central altar created so that participants can place a significant object on the alter. Read our how to prepare page for more details.
The room is cleansed using shamanic tools such as SoPlay with Mapacho, Aqua de Florida, burning of Palo Santo, smudging individuals with Sage, Sweet grass and/or Lavender, and calling the spirits of the directions. As a group, we will practice in singing Icaros, mantras and other songs in order to meet the plant medicine half way. The spirit plants of the jungle are very powerful teachers. The Maestra apprentice will pray to the plant medicine and set intention for positive journeying as a group. The ceremony generally start when darkness falls around 7:30pm.
One by one guests are called up to the front to drink their medicine. Once everyone has been served, the candle is blown out and we sit in silence waiting for the medicine to start working.
After approximately 20 – 40 minutes, the Maestra apprentice will begin to sing Icaro’s, medicine songs of the Shipibo teachings that are infused with vibration and healing that raises participants energies. Everyone is encouraged to sing them in the ceremony to guide the plant spirits energies and directing the overall feeling of the ceremony. It is imperative that ALL participants remain in the sacred space no matter how challenging your journey is. The space has been sealed and closed to create a safe journey. Guides, ancestors and protectors have been called to keep any energies out of the space. When someone leaves, the circle is broken thus opening to other maleficent energies attracted to rituals and ceremonies. This often leads to challenging journeying for the one leaving and those in the circle.
As the ceremony progresses, other members of the team may also sing, some songs are in English and more like folk or gospel songs, there may also be periods of silence. Sometimes when it is appropriate guests are invited to sing, however this has usually been discussed with the healers and staff before the ceremony begins.
At some point you may be called up to the Maestra apprentice to be sung to directly, this is when the Maestra apprentice reads your energy more closely, clearing and purifying you with Mapacho and Agua de Florida. It is truly a powerful moment.
After 4 or 5 hours the ceremony is complete, usually the candle is lit and we may have time for optional group sharing. Guests are generally invited to speak a few words about their ceremony if they want to. After the ceremony guests are welcome to sleep in the Center.
While guests are asked to refrain from speaking during ceremonies, at any moment you can simply speak the name of an angel staff member and we will assist you, perhaps to the bathroom or if you are feeling overwhelmed we can help you. Never be too shy to ask for help, that’s what we are here for.
